He played different styles of music including “Indian, Celtic, bluegrass and folk”.Butler had his first paid performance in 1997 at the Seaview Hotel in Fremantle. In 1998, North Fremantle, Mojos club owner, Phil Stevens, hired Butler as a regular performer. Stevens became his manager and later his business partner.

Harmonic Humanity salutes the humanitarian work of Stephanie Schneiderman. Her song Bianca was written about a homeless woman. Look for her on Harmonic Humanity’s CD “Relief” coming up.

WITH A NAME like Stephanie Schneiderman, pop chanteuse isn’t necessarily the first profession that comes to mind. But Schneiderman’s new album, “Dangerous Fruit,” reveals a confident singer boasting a collection of torchy techno pop in the vein of Zero 7 or Morcheeba.

On her sixth solo album, Schneiderman gives her singer-songwriter stylings an electronic facelift, the product of her collaboration with producer Keith Schreiner. Most of the tracks on “Dangerous Fruit” contain similar elements: slow to mid-range tempos, mechanical-sounding beats, the constant picking of an acoustic guitar as well as a reverb-soaked gallery of studio effects.

But Schneiderman’s ambition is admirable. The result is a polished studio album that feels fully realized and amplifies the drama and sophistication of what could have been a fairly standard folk-pop album.

Although most of the album flows together easily (to its credit, without seeming too same-y), the best parts are the more idiosyncratic moments where the sleek production breaks. “First Crack” features a softly purring electric guitar, a welcome change from the usual incorporation of acoustic. Additionally, “Recognize” includes guitar noise that saves the song from being too sleepy.

For all its studio flash, “Dangerous Fruit” is essentially an ambient record. It’s an album you might put on after making a home-cooked meal for a date, right before you ask to refill the wine glasses.

Schneiderman’s vocals take center stage on each track. She’s a strong, expressive singer, most notably on such tracks as the acoustic album closer “Bianca,” which would verge on bland if Schneiderman didn’t work so hard to sell it. “Stone China,” however, doesn’t fare as well, thwarted by a grating vocal melody.

Lu·mi·nary: noun 1. a body or conduit that gives light 2. a person who is an inspiration to others

Harmonic Humanity would like to thank “The Luminaries”. The Luminaries are a 7 piece conscious hip hop band from Venice, CA that are here to shine the light, and serve the world through their music. They bring such an amazing live show filled with messages of peace, love, and unity that inspire audiences to dance and feel empowered!

They have performed alongside such renowned artist as Michael Franti, India Arie, Matisyahu, K’naan, and always leave the fans motivated to “Be the Change.” With songs titled “Show the World”, “Find a Way”, “Yes”, “Peace”, and “Only Love”, it’s no wonder they keep getting booked at some of the biggest festivals in the world!

This year “The Luminaries will be featured on Harmonic Humanity’s Vol 2. CD “Relief” in support of homeless street vendors in the U.S. and beyond. Harmonic Humanity salutes the “Luminaries” for being more than conscious musicians -being conscious activists!

The group formed in 2006 after MCs J Brave, and Freewill started working together as counselors at a non-profit with homeless & at-risk youth in Hollywood, CA. While doing activism at the South Central Farm, a once thriving urban garden, they connected with fellow MC, Amore One. From this desire to help their community, they began the intention that would guide and shape the mission of the group. Under the tutelage of Freestyle Fellowship founder Myka 9, they would refine their skills, and create their new path of service to the world through music.

After performing shows as a group of vocalists to tracks, they attracted the attention of some of the best local musicians in the vibrant Venice Beach community. With Konscious Krieger on keyboards, Eric SoulLivin’ on guitar, Ben Jammin’ on bass and Ed “Dreams” Dixon on drums, Luminaries have since created a sound that combines the best elements of hip-hop, funk and rock.

Luminaries have toured the West Coast in their colorful bio-diesel powered tour bus, raising smiles on faces everywhere they go. When returning home they set up shop at their own recording facility, Konscious Studios in Santa Monica, where they currently are working on their up-coming album. As advocates of sustainability, green lifestyles, and vegetarianism, Luminaries music has become the soundtrack for an evolving world. Partnering with such companies as Eco-Useable, and Autonomie Project, they offer fans their own line of re-usuable metallic water bottles, and vegan fair trade shoes.

As humanity experiences a shift in consciousness, economics, and spirituality, we are redefining the ways we treat one another, and the earth. While we overcome the wars outside of ourselves, by finding the peace in our hearts, the Luminaries offer a beacon of hope with their music that inspires us simply to love.
Anthony Singing Bear is a passionate and committed musician who, along with his band “The Msytics”, has supported social causes nationally. The band has also supported Harmonic Humanity’s vision of helping the homeless from the beginning. Anthony has performed on the steps of City hall in Seattle at a protest for the homeless, headlined a fundraiser in 2009 to raise money for the CD project and continues to promote the idea of positive community enrichment via the power of music and the spirit of humanitarianism in action. Luc Reynaud of Luc and the Lovington’s has donated music to the cause and been an active supporter of individuals experiencing homelessness. He is an amazing conscious artist and activist with depth and soul and a will to heal others with his gifts.
As a result of Luc’s involvement in Harmonic Humanity, Jason Mraz was introduced to his song “The Freedom Song” on “Harmonic Humanity Vol. 1″. Jason was so inspired by Luc’s track that he contacted Luc, invited him to do some performances, and ultimately decided to record the song on his next upcoming album. The two have also toured together, spreading the good word of humanitarianism. Congratulations to Luc. Here’s a video of Jason Mraz sharing Luc’s “Freedom Song” live.
